Anxiety & Perfectionism

“If you want to conquer the anxiety of life, live in the moment, live in the breath.”
― Amit Ray, Om Chanting and Meditation

“My problems aren’t important enough for therapy.” Not true! Stop invalidating yourself. How do we expect others to give us validation, if we don’t do it for ourselves? Knowing that “there are worse problems in life,” unfortunately, does not make us feel better (I mean sometimes it does but not for a prolonged period of time). Let’s find a different way to challenge our thinking.

Is your mind plagued with what-ifs and should I or shouldn’t I?Overwhelmed trying to find the work-life balance that seems sustainable? Catastrophizing what will happen tomorrow? Next week? Next month? This is called irrational thinking. There are ways to stop these thoughts and replace them with new, healthy ones. In my experience, Cognitive
Behavioral Therapy (CBT) has helped many of my clients overcome these greatly frustrating thoughts to reduce their overall anxiety and panic.

We can work together to build tools so that you can conquer your goals.

EATING DISORDERS

I believe strongly in the body-mind-soul connection. Self-confidence is not built spontaneously. Body image is a key component. What’s your favorite part of your body? I bet you know your least favorite. The point is to adjust your thinking and your perspective on how your body makes you feel. Our bodies need nutrition – in other words, we need food. How’s your relationship with food? What are your trigger foods? These are questions we will explore together. Food is an everyday decision. Our relationship with food helps us make these decisions.

We are going to work on taking back control of that relationship.

“For what it’s worth: it’s never too late or, in my case, too early to be whoever you want to be. There’s no time limit, stop whenever you want. You can change or stay the same, there are no rules to this thing. We can make the best or the worst of it. I hope you make the best of it. And I hope you see things that startle you. I hope you feel things you never felt before. I hope you meet people with a different point of view. I hope you live a life you’re proud of. If you find that you’re not, I hope you have the strength to start all over again.”
― Benjamin Button, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

DEPRESSION

“Depression lies. It tells you you’ve always felt this way, and you always will. But you haven’t and you won’t.

– Halley Cornell

Feeling unmotivated? A lack of motivation can signify a deeper-rooted issue. We will get to the bottom of it, so that you can understand why and how you got there.

• Feeling depressed sucks. Let’s learn to reduce your vulnerability. We will set small goals so that you can get to your big ones. And more importantly, we will create systems to support those goals, big and small.
• Anxiety and depression go hand-in-hand. What goes up must come down, right?

At Take Back Control Mental Health Counseling, I want you to feel confident in your
ability to make decisions, feel in control of your emotions, and live a life that you are
proud of. I am here to help you.
